That is a good joke, said the hare. I could dance around you all the way.

Keep your boasting until youve beaten, answered the tortoise. Shall we race?

So a course was fixed and a start was made. The hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for thetortoise, lay down to have a nap. The tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the hare awoke from his nap, he saw the tortoise nearing he finish line, and he could not catch up in time to save the race.

《龜兔賽跑》，是一則耐人尋味的寓言故事，故事中塑造了一只驕傲的兔子和一只堅持不懈的小烏龜。

中文原文大意：有一天，兔子和烏龜比賽跑步，兔子嘲笑烏龜爬得慢，烏龜說，總有一天他會贏。兔子說，我們現(xiàn)在就開始比賽。兔子飛快地跑著，烏龜拼命地爬，不一會兒，兔子與烏龜已經離的有很大一段距離了。

兔子認為比賽太輕松了，它要先睡一會，并且自以為是地說即使自己睡醒了烏龜也不一定能追上它。而烏龜呢，它一刻不停地爬行，當兔子醒來的時候烏龜已經到達終點了。此故事告訴大家：不可輕易小視他人。虛心使人進步，驕傲使人落后.要踏踏實實地做事情，不要半途而廢，才會取得成功。
